After more than 35 years of perfecting ultimate trail comfort, the Tucker trail saddle has evolved into the most advanced equine riding system available today. It's more than a saddle - it's the Horizon series by Tucker!

This Standard saddle features an ergonomic shock absorbing seat and has the most advanced saddle tree system. The English bridle leather is beautifully handcrafted and has a stunning design.

Tri-tech fit system

  • Designed to provide hours of riding comfort for your horse
  • The base provides modest flexibility to accommodate conformational variances in a horse’s back
  • The skirt includes a flexible panel which maximizes weight distribution to help eliminate pressure points for the horse
  • The flexible panel has a finger design which allows it to flex independently of the tree for a truly dynamic fit
  • Gel-Cush™ bar pad lines the flexible panel to enhance comfort

Ergonomic Shock Absorbing Seat

  • Our redesigned shock absorbing ground seat is contoured to provide a close contact riding experience while reducing impact
  • Sculptured cushion design features an ergonomic relief channel that helps eliminate pressure
  • Silicone matrix is paired with patented Gel-Cush™ to provide a more comfortable ride while eliminating pressure points in tender areas
  • The latest in Gel-Cush™ shock absorbing technology

English Bridle Leather

  • Exceptional quality and naturally resists moisture and the elements

Western Saddle Seat Size Calculator

*NOTE FOR CHILDREN OR YOUTH SIZES SMALLER THAN 14" When measuring for a child's Western saddle, have them sit down in a chair. Once seated, use a measuring tape to measure the length of their upper leg from the knee to their rear. The saddle should be about 10% longer than the child's upper leg. For example: If the child's leg measures 9 inches, then the child's Western saddle should be 10 inches.

Calculated Seat Size:

There is a lot of room for personal preference with seat sizing, but as a general rule it is better to error on the side of ordering a seat size that is too large rather than erring on the side of a seat that will be too small.

Things to Consider

  • Tucker adds 1/2inch to their seat sizes (due to thick seat padding)
    16.5” Tucker = 16” normally

  • Barrel riders usually take 1” less on the seat size
    16” Trail Rider = 15” Barrel Rider

  • Ranch (slick seats) usually ride smaller (1/2inch seat size) so they don’t slide around
16” is for most men, 15” for most women

  • Trail Saddles with High Cantles (5”) make the seat sizes feel smaller
Trail Saddle with 5” cantle will feel smaller in the seat than one with a 3.5” cantle

  • English Saddles don’t convert exactly but often are 2” bigger
    18” English = 16” Western

  • Riders with inseams under 30” or 5’ tall and under often need custom cut fenders
Tall riders with long legs but lighter weight may need custom cut fenders as well

Checking the Fit

  • General Guideline is about 3 fingers between your thigh and the swell.

Great saddle for trail & pregnancy after breaking inI bought this saddle because I'm pregnant and the horn on my normal saddle was starting to poke me in the baby bump. When I first got this saddle I was actually shocked at how uncomfortable it was, given all the great reviews and fancy comfort features for horse and rider, but it fit my horse well and had the hornless feature I needed, so I kept it. After some leather conditioner and a week or two of breaking it in, it became just as comfortable as I'd expected it to be. It truly is very comfortable for casual riding and long rides. I don't feel as close to my horse's back as I do in my normal saddle, so schooling isn't quite as effective, though I don't notice so much now that we're both used to the saddle. And we're not doing much schooling anyway now that I'm in my third trimester! It's mostly relaxed hacking now, and this saddle is perfect for that. And it doesn't hurt that the tooling and hardware are absolutely beautiful.

I'm very glad I bought this saddle, as it has allowed me to ride several months longer into my pregnancy than I otherwise would have been able to! 31 weeks pregnant now and hoping to be able to at least get on my horse and walk for several more weeks.
Pros:Very comfortable (after breaking in). Beautiful tooling, hardware, etc. Love the wool felt lining. Lots of places to attach saddle bags, breast collar, etc.
Cons:Break-in period required before it was comfortable. Stirrups that fit this saddle are narrower than most. I do wonder how long the little vent holes in the seat leather will last or if they will eventually stretch or tear. So far they're fine!

Extremely Comfortable & Easy To HandleI sat in many saddles before deciding on this particular one. It is the most comfortable saddle Ive ever owned. I already owned a Tucker equitation saddle, but the Horizon is in a class of its own. Its a great fit for my Arabian. The saddle itself is just beautiful. Weight-wise, I couldnt call it light because theyre all heavy to me (100 lbs and short, with weak arms) but this saddle is one of the lighter ones and I am able to saddle him without help. I had a great buying experience with Josh at Horse Saddle Shop and would recommend them in the future.
Pros:Comfort, Weight & Styling
Cons:Nothing negative to say about this saddle

Finally The Right Fit!After trying several saddles for my heavy shouldered, short backed horse Paint QH, the outpost offered both me and my horse comfort. This is a beautiful saddle and it was pricey, but well worth if the comfort of me and my horse. Thanks Horse Saddle Shop for working with me through the covid shutdown to get the perfect saddle. It was a challenge well worth working through.
Pros:The trail fenders have the freedom of a leather, with the protection from horse sweat and grim of a fender. Love it!
Cons:The only reason I did not give this saddle 5 stars is I wanted a 5 inch cantle and was told that was not an option.

Very comfortable trail saddleWas hesitant in purchasing the Horizon Outpost due to the premium price over a standard Tucker endurance saddle which I already own a few of and very happy with. It didnt take long to decide I had made the right choice. They Horizon is a lot more comfortable than their base models, and I really like the fancy conchos and the quality construction. It is a few pounds heavier but the additional comfort is worth it for me and my horses. I am not a fan of the Horizon floral tooling, its too feminine. I wished theyd offer options on tooling like basket weave or barbed wire. This was actually my second Horizon Outpost purchase, and I ordered all black without any tooling. I do a lot of trail riding on rough terrain, sometimes 20-30 miles in a day and the Horizon saddles are absolutely the most comfortable Ive ever ridden on.
Pros:Very comfortable, high quality
Cons:Feminine tooling

Best saddle Ive ridden in by farI own 2 Tucker Horizon Endurance saddles. Purchased both from Horse Saddle Shop, they were very helpful and professional. I dont see a lot of reviews for this saddle, was looking for some before making the purchase on whether the Horizon was worth the extra money compared to a standard Tucker. My personal opinion is yes, definitely. Exceptional comfort for long rides. Ive had many saddles over the years, a lot of standard Tuckers, and without any doubt the Horizon is the most comfortable. I go on 20 mile plus rides regularly on rough terrain. Fits like a glove on all three of my gaited horses (wide tree). Actually fits well enough that the girth doesnt have to be super tight. The gel seat is amazing and I feel the gel in the tree also add to the shock absorbing quality of the seat, as well as Im sure its more comfortable to the horse. The fit and finish are great and the fancy hardware is a nice touch. I dont use the crossfire rigging, I opt to use a western off billet and latigo rigging with a breast collar. I only wish Tucker had optional tooling other than the current floral pattern. Basket weave or barbed wire would be nice. Actually ordered my second Horizon without tooling.
Pros:Extremely comfortable and well made
Cons:Not a fan of the floral tooling.
