Cashel Trail Saddle

Made In The USA

One of Cashel's most popular saddles, this Cashel Trail features a short, rounded skirt - great for the shorter backed horse!

A big cheyenne roll and long strings add to the western look while providing ample space for trail gear and accessories.

The understated elegance comes from white stitching around the double padded seat and border tooling on seat jockeys, fenders, and skirt.

A cutout skirt provides the close contact feel that riders are looking for today. In skirt rigging reduces the bulk under the fender for close contact with your horse.

Built on an AXIS tree, you'll find strength in the fiberglass coating as well as some additional weather proofing. The AXIS bar tips are designed to flare up and away from the horse's shoulders for more freedom of movement.

Made from Hermann Oak leather.

AXIS Tree Features

Axis Tree
  • Bar tips flare up and away from the horse's shoulder to eliminate any interference of natural movement
  • Double stirrup leather cut out eliminates uneven pressure under the saddle and provides an even contact surface
  • Unlike traditional rawhide trees, the fiberglass ground seat is specifically molded to fit the rider's needs and adds 1000 pounds of resistant strength to the tree
  • Bars are designed to provide full and even contact to the horse's back
  • Only the finest kiln-dried hand selected lumber is sealed with a durable ageless fiberglass coating

EXCELLENT WIDE FIT 5 I bought one & sold the horse I had it for , got another wide Qtr horse & went shopping for a second one! Was lucky to find a used one here. Company was great to deal with! These saddle have a nice medium amount of curve to the bars & great flare. I love the wide gulley, allows for good air flow. I wish it was easy to get a suede seat. I find the slick seat fairly slippery I use a sheepskin pad to assist with this I have a friend thinking about buying one for her horse!
Pros:Comfortable deep seat, lots of rigging options, well built
Cons:Slick out seat is too slippery

Great saddle! 4 Had a hard time fitting my two wide horses, one of them very broad in the shoulder. Finally found this saddle and it fits perfectly. Wider bar angle than a circle Y, which is what I needed. Very comfortable for me too, although I wish the leather was not so stiff and slick. I considered the rough out version of this, but they didn't have it in stock and I needed the saddle quickly. Overall, I definitely recommend this saddle for wider horses! As always, excellent customer service!

I hate this saddle 1 Lite weight. Stick up in the center back 3" to 4" inches on all three horses we've tried it on. Comes with a cheap nylon latigo and off bullet. When you put a leather latigo on the saddle, it is very hard to take a couple of wraps, the little squares in the rigging are to small to get a couple of wraps of the latigo. Then the lining is cheap synthetic instead of the regular wool lining. Leather is nice. Truly hate this saddle. The second worst saddle I've ever had!

Great, comfy saddle 5 I was lucky to be able to try this saddle first. A friend had one. It seemed to fit my mare well and I'd been having a very hard time with saddle fit. Bonus was it is very comfortable for the rider. Very balanced. It was heavier than I'd expected from a rounded skirt, but still light enough to toss on the horse. The leather seems quite stiff for a saddle of this price range, but this was not a deal breaker.

Very happy with saddle. 5 I'm 6'2" tall; weigh 230 lb., The 16-inch seat I ordered is a comfortable but snug fit for me. Saddles run about 1/2-inch smaller than other saddles I have -inch TexTan Prescott\. If i bought again, I would get the 17-inch model. A breast collar is a must for a guy my size.

Great saddle! 5 Love the shoulder room that this saddle offers. I wanted a close contact saddle that was fairly light and this fits the bill. It fits my horse beautifully and so comfortable for me.

YEAH! HORSESADDLESHOP IS THE BEST AND THIS SADDLE IS GREAT! 5 My 13 year old skinny minny daughter rides a haflinger/quarter pony with mutton withers. He is the WORST to fit for anything. We have been through multiple saddles. Josh at horsesaddle shop was so insanely helpful. I sent him numerous pictures and emails. His patience with me was astounding. He really did want to help not just sell me something that didn't work. In fact I had picked out a more expensive saddle and he said he didn't think it would work. I can't tell you how impressed I am with his professionalism! The saddle fits the hard to fit Halfie pony!!! It's a tad big for my daughter, but she will grow into this saddle and have many happy years in it! As with all leather saddles the leather was stiff when we received it, but isn't that the beauty of a new saddle??!!! We have conditioned it 3 times and it's beautiful and supple, not a single squeak since the first conditioning! We used a broomstick to turn the stirrups and during that time the saddle sat in my daughters bedroom, which she thought was the coolest thing ever!!! This entire saddle buying experience has been amazing and I would purchase another saddle from Josh at horsesaddleshop in a minute!!

Very happy with purchase. 5 I love this saddle. Purchased 16" seat w/wide tree for use on a short-backed, low withered appaloosa and b a wide foundation quarter horse. Saddle fits both horses very well. My wife has a 15" Martin saddle with the regular Axis tree. It worked for these horses but we were in agreement that my new saddle would have the wide Axis tree. No regrets! I am 6'2" and weigh 230 pounds and find this saddle comfortable.

Beautiful saddle, needs broken in. 4 I got the wide tree, and it is very very wide. I think this is mainly because of the bar flare. Time will tell if the flare is a good thing or not. Quarter horse is very wide with prominent shoulders. The flare makes this saddle seem like it fits well because it doesn't pinch his shoulders. However while riding in the saddle, it will tip forward and rock a bit on his back. I don't know what I think about the concept of bar flare or whether this will turn into a problem later. For now he is seems much more comfortable. I would not recommend this on a straight backed horse. When riding it is comfortable, and will get more comfortable as it breaks in. the seat does run small. To do over again, I would get the 16 inch over the 15 inch. This seat also sits up off their back quite a bit.

Slippery but still fantastic 4 This saddle is a great fit for my flat withered mare also I needed a light saddle and this is perfect. I love the close contact and the cinch options. The only negative about this saddle is the coating on the leather which makes it too slippery

Good saddle 4 Use the saddle for both trail riding and schooling. Saddle gives good feel when riding. Fenders are free swinging. Fits my horse well. Did not really like the stirrups so changed those for a pair from one of my other saddles.

Great saddle for the price 4 We ordered a 17" with regular tree for my husband's foundation style quarter horse that we were having issues with saddles pinching his shoulder. This saddle leaves him plenty of room in the shoulder and the bar angle was more than wide enough for him. I would say it tends to run a bit small with the padding in the seat. Its a bit snug for my husband, but I was more than comfortable to ride in the saddle myself too because it has a nice pocket in the seat, even though I usually ride two sizes smaller. It is very very stiff nd squeaky!, especially the fenders and rear skirting, but that's nothing that can't be fixed with some conditioning. This saddle definitely should be sold with a flank cinch included. It really needs one, its not balanced enough where the front rigging is and tends to want to flop around in the back without one.

Twenty plus hours 5 This saddle was THE one out of many that finally fit my horse' broad shoulders. He needed the open bars and decent rock. After three months and many brands, this one worked. The three positions for the cinch is a plus. It is also comfortable for me. I measure for a 16 inch but could probably have ridden this model in a 15 inch. However, I am NOT sending this saddle back.: It would have been nice to have a built in twist in the stirrups but my broom is working on fixing that. This is a fairly lightweight, attractive saddle that puts the rider in a nicely centered position. What's not to like!?

Things to consider 5 This is a great saddle and it is beautiful, but there are things you need to know about it before ordering. Number one, if you have a large horse it will look like a little pony saddle on your horse. You may want to consider the square skirt trail saddle or the outfitter saddle by Cashel for a large horse. Also, the seat size on this saddle runs VERY small. If you normally use a 15 seat you will NEED a 16. I would describe the 15 as a youth size saddle\. That all being said I think this is a GREAT saddle for a smaller horse and for Arabians. Strongly recommend the axis tree for your horses freedom of movement. Also, once the leather is oiled and conditioned it feels incredible.
