Good Saddle for the Price I purchased this saddle for a horse in my lesson program. I took him to a saddle fitter and the Ralide Flex Gaited Tree fit the best. I would have never tried a gaited tree on this almost draft-like horse, but it fit him darn near perfectly. I chose this saddle because I wanted leather he saddle at the fitter's was cordura, it had the tree I needed, and I really liked the look of it. Plus, I've had clients purchase tack from the Horse Saddle Shop before and had nothing but rave reviews of them and their customer service. The saddle is a nice quality for the price; it's nicer than the $400-$600 saddles I have, but not quite the quality of my $1500+ saddles, which was expected. Some of the leather didn't take the black dye well and came out uneven, specifically the stirrups I replaced them with aluminums, flank cinch lank billets look good, and the stirrup leathers enders are good\. The stirrup hobbles are only dyed on the face o biggie and I received 2 lefts instead of a left and a right. On a positive note, the leather is very nice with no squeak, and the stitching, tooling, and workmanship are all very good. All and all, for a saddle on the $1000 budget line to be used for lessons and trails this is a good one.

Fit, quality, comfort and affordable. This saddle fits my Walker perfectly. She is of typical Tennessee Walker build, although shorter. I am glad I researched the tree design and got her what she needed. QH bars weren't fitting right. The craftsmanship is excellent. No problems with anything coming undone or falling apart. We've put in a dozen or more hour+ mountain trail rides. The seat is comfy for me. I'm 5 foot nothing, ride a 15" seat and the fenders are short enough, although on the top hole. Love that it came in black. The tooling is beautiful. The fenders are still a little stiff even after generous oiling and turning, but not really a problem. This saddle is well priced, not cheaply made, substantial, beautiful, and it fits. It lives up to its claims.

Awesome saddle This is a very well made saddle for the money. It is a little heavy especially for me as a female with a tall horse, but I absolutely love it otherwise. I use it reguarly, and have worked up the muscle to handle it. Because of the quality of the saddle and oiling it after every use, I expect it to be around as long as I will ever need a saddle. Craftsmanship is as good as the more expensive brands.

I love this saddle & would recommend!! Wish it was a little lighter, but understand that it is so because of excellent thickness of leather & quality of leather. I ride daily, so the daily lifting part is awkward. I'm 5'6" and used the last stirrup holes, so had to make additional holes to make my stirrups shorter still and I ride long legged & Western.

Review Horse Saddle shop was out of stock on this item. They custom ordered what I wanted from Dakota and had it to me inside a month. The saddle itself is amazing! it fits my rather stocky Tenessee Walker perfectly and is constructed with super thick leather. It will last me a lifetime. My only issue is it came unoiled and I had to spend a few weeks oiling it and breaking it in. I cannot complain though, because the price was significantly better than say a tucker or circle Y saddle, or billy cook, which in my opinion are lower quality saddles. Dakota saddles seem to be the best bang for the buck, and I don't intend to buy any other brand going forward!

I have had this saddle on 5 horses, and it has fit all of them. The tree is exceptional. Fit our 15.3 quarterhorse,14.2 Missouri Fox Trotter,14.1 Tennessee Walker and our 15.1 Walker. After riding we took all the gear off and the sweat marks were the proof. No dry areas, except where it was suppose to be. Kept centered and off the spine.

Perfect saddle for TN Walker My Dakota saddle goes through some tough terrane. We get off the beaten path through brush and no rips in the leather. My Walker loves to splash in the creeks and no problem with water damage on the leather. We do a proper cleaning after each use. Fits my 16.1 hh Walker perfect since he has high withers. The weight is the only problem I have with it, but my horse is very tall and I'm not. I would suggest using a martingale or narrow breast collar with this saddle on Walkers.
