Best Western Saddles for Larger Riders

For trail and recreational riding, a lighter saddle can reduce the total load on the horse. That may make a lightweight leather, synthetic, or combination saddle worth considering when it otherwise fits the horse and suits the riding.

For heavy ranch or roping work, saddle construction and strength become more important, so the best choice depends on what the saddle is expected to do.

Make Sure the Horse Is Part of the Decision

Horse fit always comes first. A comfortable rider seat does not make a saddle successful if the tree is wrong for the horse. Consider the horse's shoulder width, topline, back length, and overall condition along with the rider's needs.
