Quality I bought mine 18 years ago it's been countless miles. I've had mad cows tied to it and big bulls. Thousands I'm sick yearlings have been roped off of it. At first I was skeptical about it because it is light but it a tough saddle. I am sad to say about 10 months ago my son was riding it and had a colt flip over backwards and broke the tree in it but after 18 years of hard daily use I can't complain one bit.

Rope ready I bought this saddle to use. And use it I do I rope 4 out of 7nights a week and turn any where from 15 to 30 steers a night. I've had it for 3yrs and don't have a complaint I use it during hunting season on my trail horse, and spend days in the saddle packing in and out camps for at least 2 rifle seasons. I then oil it once a year and so far that's all it has needed.
Pros:Comfortable and durable
Cons:It's nothing fancy no one cares if you ride a Dakota.

My husband loves it! I bought this saddle for my husband and he LOVES it!!! I bought it used from a friend. My friend had it for approx 10 years and my husband has had it for 4 years. Clean it and oil it and it looks brand new again! Great quality! I also ride in a Dakota roping saddle and am looking to purchase another Dakota, the trainer 920. As you can tell we love our Dakotas!!

Nice saddle for the money, but has a few drawbacks I am a working cowboy on a Nebraska ranch. I bought this saddle September 2015. The saddle is pretty nice, decent quality leather seat, however the leather on the pommel is pretty much paper thin. The back cinch is ok for trail riding but not even close to acceptable for roping. Bottom line, i had toq have the pommel redone with better leather and spend 200 bucks on a wider back cinch before it was something I would consider dragging calves with. I am a little disappointed with this dakota purchase. It's the second Dakota saddle I've bought from Horse Saddle Shop. The first was top notch, this one is not so much. Still haven't redone the leather on the pommel, yet, but I feel I shouldn't have to have a saddle restored when it's brand new.

Be prepared to spend more money The saddle itself seems rather decent quality for the price. But its a touch light for a ranch saddle. It comes with plastic stirrups, low quality strings, nylon latigo and billet, aluminum leather washers that the screws go all the way through need to be replaced and barely hold the leather conchos, flank billets a little thin, and rear cinch for trail not ranch work. Be prepared to replace all tack if you do ranch work or heavy riding. I would not attempt to rope or drag an animal off this saddle as it comes. Bottom line [$] for saddle + $200 to make ranch ready perhaps another brand that's ready to go for a little more money is a better buy.
