The Harper Hybrid Flex2 is the perfect choice for anyone looking for a lightweight trail saddle option. Using suede instead of traditional leather offers all of the features you need, without adding the weight of leather to your horse's back. It uses our most popular Flex2 trail tree which has a 4" cantle and 13" wide swell to provide a moderate seat, the standard in all-day comfort.

*Important Note Flex2 trees are designed to flex at the tips of the bars, they allow freedom of movement for your horse while riding but do not offer flexible fits so it’s important to order the correct size for your horse’s back
HELPFUL TIP
The placement of the saddle on the horse's back is essential to function and comfort. The correct saddling position places the front edge of the bar BEHIND the horse's shoulder blade. This is the sweet spot where the saddle will rest comfortably without interfering with the horse's movement.
WARRANTY
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Every new saddle has been oiled and then finished with a protective finish, so you don't need to oil it for about six months. You should oil it sooner if you're riding a lot in dry or variable weather conditions. The protective finish is water-based, so your leather can breathe. Do not use detergent-based, solvent, or harsh cleaning products. Rub the leather gently, and do not scrub vigorously with soap and water. This saddle is a hybrid saddle built with Suede use only a cleaner specially designed for the care of suede leather. The Suede should be dusted or vacuum cleaned free of dust and dirt, brushed with a stiff brush to bring back the nap, and spot cleaned with a damp cloth. A conditioner of any kind would probably “glue” the nap and you would lose the texture of the suede. Most saddle leather products tell you not to use it on suede. When measuring for a child's Western saddle, have them sit down in a chair. Once seated, use a measuring tape to measure the length of their upper leg from the knee to their rear. The saddle should be about 10% longer than the child's upper leg. For example: If the child's leg measures 9 inches, then the child's Western saddle should be 10 inches.
There is a lot of room for personal preference with seat sizing, but as a general rule it is better to error on the side of ordering a seat size that is too large rather than erring on the side of a seat that will be too small.

There is a lot of room for personal preference with seat sizing, but as a general rule it is better to error on the side of ordering a seat size that is too large rather than erring on the side of a seat that will be too small.
Things to Consider
- Tucker adds 1/2inch to their seat sizes (due to thick seat padding)
16.5” Tucker = 16” normally
- Barrel riders usually take 1” less on the seat size
16” Trail Rider = 15” Barrel Rider
- Ranch (slick seats) usually ride smaller (1/2inch seat size) so they don’t slide around
16” is for most men, 15” for most women
- Trail Saddles with High Cantles (5”) make the seat sizes feel smaller
Trail Saddle with 5” cantle will feel smaller in the seat than one with a 3.5” cantle
- English Saddles don’t convert exactly but often are 2” bigger
18” English = 16” Western
- Riders with inseams under 30” or 5’ tall and under often need custom cut fenders
Tall riders with long legs but lighter weight may need custom cut fenders as well
Checking the Fit
- General Guideline is about 3 fingers between your thigh and the swell.
