This saddle is designed to cater to the needs of barrel racers who are looking for specific features to enhance their performance. It is ideal for those seeking a wide swell and tall cantle, which help keep the rider in an optimal position during races. Additionally, it is suitable for barrel racers who ride multiple horses and may require different rigging capabilities for each horse. The saddle is also aimed at improving run times by reducing saddle weight.
We know you will love this saddle! Created and curated by barrel racing legend, MARTHA JOSEY, this saddle features a secure 5” cantle with wide swells, allowing the rider to stay locked in and properly balanced during a powerful run. It is made from synthetic skirting and lightweight leather to reduce weight, adorned with beautiful conchos and Cheetah suede.
The saddle's 3-Way Adjustable In-Skirt rigging offers the flexibility of changing the rigging position to Full, 3/4, or 7/8 by simply adjusting the tie strap. It's important to note that the saddle should be rigged the same on both sides. The Ultimate DURAhide tree comes in two sizes, regular and wide, with recommendations for different horse builds.
Correct placement of the saddle on the horse’s back is emphasized for both function and comfort, ensuring that the front edge of the bar is positioned behind the horse’s shoulder blade. Circle Y places significant importance on saddle fit and advises against over-padding on a well-fitting saddle, as it can lead to poor saddle fit, saddle sores, and a sore back. Riders are encouraged to regularly check the fit and adjust pad width sizing accordingly. Evaluation of the horse’s topline conformation is recommended, as issues such as a weak topline can lead to poor saddle fit.
The saddle comes with a 10-Year Tree Warranty and a 1-Year Craftsmanship Warranty, with prompt repair and guidance available through the customer service team if the saddle shows any damage.
The new saddle has been oiled and finished with a protective coat, eliminating the need for additional oiling for approximately six months. However, riders in dry or variable weather conditions should consider oiling it sooner. It's important to avoid using detergent-based, solvent, or harsh cleaning products and instead, gently rub the leather. The protective water-based finish allows the leather to breathe, so it's advised not to scrub vigorously with soap and water. When measuring for a child's Western saddle, have them sit down in a chair. Once seated, use a measuring tape to measure the length of their upper leg from the knee to their rear. The saddle should be about 10% longer than the child's upper leg. For example: If the child's leg measures 9 inches, then the child's Western saddle should be 10 inches.
There is a lot of room for personal preference with seat sizing, but as a general rule it is better to error on the side of ordering a seat size that is too large rather than erring on the side of a seat that will be too small.

There is a lot of room for personal preference with seat sizing, but as a general rule it is better to error on the side of ordering a seat size that is too large rather than erring on the side of a seat that will be too small.
Things to Consider
- Tucker adds 1/2inch to their seat sizes (due to thick seat padding)
16.5” Tucker = 16” normally
- Barrel riders usually take 1” less on the seat size
16” Trail Rider = 15” Barrel Rider
- Ranch (slick seats) usually ride smaller (1/2inch seat size) so they don’t slide around
16” is for most men, 15” for most women
- Trail Saddles with High Cantles (5”) make the seat sizes feel smaller
Trail Saddle with 5” cantle will feel smaller in the seat than one with a 3.5” cantle
- English Saddles don’t convert exactly but often are 2” bigger
18” English = 16” Western
- Riders with inseams under 30” or 5’ tall and under often need custom cut fenders
Tall riders with long legs but lighter weight may need custom cut fenders as well

- General Guideline is about 3 fingers between your thigh and the swell.
